TMNT Turtle Select Bracket Kit

After I snuffed out the Yak butter lamps in my quarters to begin my dark room session with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as has become my nightly ritual, I couldn’t help but notice once again that the selection plastic for the Turtles over the shooter lane seemed so unadorned and unfinished. Recalling the proverb often heard in the halls of my home, “Who can say with certainty that one will live to see the morrow?” I realized that there was no guarantee of even one more day on this earth. So, if I was bothered by such a thing as an unfinished selector plastic, I should unburden myself by finishing that which Borg was unable to, whether for time or budget reasons.

Therefore, that fateful night I decided to forego my play session and made it a work session instead. I put a Yak on the treadmill to generate additional power and set about designing a bracket that would at once finish the selection plastic and enhance it. Beneath each turtle I put the weapon they were known to use in the show, and at the top of the bracket, I put “TURTLE SELECT” in appropriate-looking lettering.

The biggest challenge was getting rid of the four giant screws and still keeping the light board below attached so it could illuminate the turtle faces. I replaced the two front bracket screws with two tiny wafer-head screws that blended beautifully into the face plastic. Then for the other two that held the light board below, I removed them completely and created a light board bracket to suspend the light board behind the face plastic, with the board being held in place using ninja star washers.

Excitedly, I sent these designs to the 3D printer and gave Nayoh a steady procession of his favorite snacks so he would gallop faster and power the printer long enough to complete the prints. When they were complete, I could hardly wait to install them and see the result.

In the end, I was satisfied with the work, and the very next game I played on the machine was my high score, and remains so to this day. Was it the bracket that made the difference, or was it my unburdened heart? I believe it was perhaps a mix of both. Now you can reap the benefit of my journey by improving your unadorned turtle select plastic as well. As with guarantees of living to see the morrow, high scores as a result of installing this are not guaranteed.
